Wee Can Too: 100% Natural and Safe Art Materials for Your Child

link_1We parents are almost always on the lookout for the best products for our children. We want to make sure that they are safe for our kids, and serve their purpose, too.

However, it can be quite challenging to find products that really pass our “standards,” especially here in the Philippines. Whether it’s diapers or baby food, books or toys, we sometimes are clueless as to what is the “best” and where to get it.

The same can be said of art supplies for small children. To tell you the truth, when my two older children were still toddlers, I rarely let them hold or use art materials. I was too scared that they would put the crayons or finger paint in their mouths. I mean, who knows what kind of chemicals they’d be exposed to, right?

WEE CAN TOO ORGANIC FINGER PAINTS

link_2“No, no, no, no , no, don’t eat that!” But it’s just so colorful and it must taste as good as it looks, right? While these paints might not taste good, they definitely won’t harm your little Picasso.

Wee Can Too organic finger paints allow young artists to freely display their creative whims without fear of ingesting harmful chemicals. By using organic, vegan, gluten free, sugar free, and preservative free pigments, Wee Can Too has created an award winning finger paint that is safe should a mouth replace the canvas.

Just add water, do a little 007 martini shake, and you’re ready to go! Wee Can Too organic finger paints come in five rich colors: purple/blue made from real blueberry powder, pink/red made from real beet powder, green made from real spinach powder, orange and yellow, each made from real pumpkin powder.

For preschool-aged artists, use Wee Can Too finger paints to show how colors can blend together to create new ones. What better way to highlight art as freeing and without limitation?

wee can too – veggie baby finger paint

link_4Do you know what is in your children’s ‘non-toxic’ paint? I don’t because it’s not on the label. In the interest of ‘blog research’ we are road testing some eco and natural kids paints.

I decided to start with finger paint. I am more trusting when the paint is on the end of a brush but when it’s on their skin for half the day I’d rather know what’s in it and know it’s natural. For finger paint I think homemade is the best way to go but I wish I had these wee can too paints when Otis was a baby.

Edible Sidewalk Chalk

link_8We love the toddler edible art supplies from Wee Can Too,that are completely safe if ingested, as they are made from organic fruit and vegetable powders. They make finger paints, crayons, sculpting dough, and sidewalk chalk. Since we have a 10 year old, we have passed everything but the chalk to the toddlers in my brother’s family, and we just tried the chalk. Big hit! Clara said that one of her favorite parts is that the chalk didn’t discolor her hands at all. Perfect for summer–and nice idea for a host gift for friends that have young kids.

Norwegian Cruise Introduces Guppies Program for Under 3s

link_11After browsing the offerings of Splash Academy and Entourage, Norwegian Cruise Line’s onboard program for kids and teens, you may scratch your head and wonder how your kids will find the time to take part in all the cool activities and visit each port of call. In fact, many children are slightly disappointed when it’s time to go ashore because they’d rather enjoy the shipboard activities.

Norwegian just introduced a new dimension to its Splash Academy offerings: the interactive “Guppies” program that’s exclusively for children ages six months to three years old. Think of it as mommy-and-daddy-and-me time. A series of sensory-based programs are offered, including baby art, featuring vegetable-based Wee Can Too art products; a storytelling session called “Rhyme Time,” which centers around traditional nursery rhymes told by puppets; and a parent-child mini-workout called “Motion in the Ocean.” These fee-free activities allow families to bond with their babies during onboard playtime.

Review: Wee Can Too

I am especially in awe of Wee Can Too, a kids art supply company, created by a high school classmate, Sarid Ditton, and her partner Nicole (go South Eugene!). Watch this adorable video blog post!!

As a mummy of 12 month old twins and an avid Arts and Crafter I was so excited for the time when I’d be able to paint and draw with the kids, it’s such an amazing way to get them to express themselves even from such a young age, but I wasn’t sure when that time would come as I knew anything I put in front of them they would eat (especially Pixie), and who could blame them, it’s lots of pretty bright colours – perfect for a yummy snack! I decided to have a hunt online to see if I could find any paint that was less toxic, but didn’t expect to find EDIBLE paint! Read More

Not That You Want Your Baby To Eat Crayons . . .

Here’s something sweeter than sugar for your little bunny’s holiday hunt:Edible Veggie Sidewalk Chalk. Plus we challenge you (especially you Rock-Chalk-Jayhawk University of Kansas parents, and you know who you are) to say it without a smile. Made by moms Sarid Ditton and Nichole Groat of Wee Can Too Art Supplies, the chalk is made with organic ingredients, comes in Original and Swirl colors, and the moms vow it is “totally eat-a-ble, totally vegan, no wheat, no sugar, no preservatives!” Wee Can Too has finger paints, crayons and non-toxic Easter egg-dyeing kits, too.

Fact: curious kiddos will put almost anything in their mouths — which makes playtime with teething tots a dubious experience. And when it comes to creating masterpieces, art tools often end up as chew toys which get confiscated from frustrated wee ones who just want to have fun. So when we learned about Wee Can Too‘s edible chalk, we had to take note! Read More

Wee Can Too Veggie Fingerpaint Grab N’ GoSince there isn’t much a 2-year-old doesn’t want to taste — except for the veggies and fruit on his dinner plate – I love that these finger paints are food based, made from, you guessed it, veggies and fruit, and safe to eat.

Chalk this one up to pure genius. Kiddos can create sidewalk art with chalk that’s not only lead-free, but also edible! It’s not recommended that your little one chows down on these art tools, but technically, they’re edible–made from organic, food-based ingredients including beets, spinach and blueberries. The set comes with five colors of chalk: green, yellow, orange, pink and purple, and contains no wheat, no sugar, no preservatives and no dairy. Wee Can Too also makes edible paint and crayons for those kids who like to put everything in their mouths.

Check out our latest picture series on Playdation…You may look at these pictures and say to yourself, “Oh how sweet! He is coloring.” so I will share with you the real reason Max likes to “color”. He loves to eat crayons. He doesn’t just bite them and spit them out. He eats them like crackers when we are not watching. Coming from a family of artists, I would like him to engage in creative activities from the earliest age possible, still I don’t think crayons are part of a nutritious diet. Luckily Shannon of Smilla let me in on a little secret. There is a company called Wee Can Too that has a solution for just this problem: edible art supplies. No way, you say? Yes way!

Being a former teacher, I love to attempt to “plan” activities for Girlie.  Sometimes we’ll play learning games I make up, and sometimes we work on letters or numbers, and sometimes we do little crafts.  But I tend to fall short on art activities that are just plain old messy fun for her.  Why?  Well, she’s still 2!  She’s still learning and some days I just don’t have the patience for a learning curve.. Read More
